CDF Awarded $60,000 Nationwide Foundation Grant

WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 15, 2018) The Nationwide Foundation awarded a $60,000 grant to the Cooperative Development Foundation (CDF) to support the foundation’s work to improve economic opportunity in the United Sates by promoting and developing cooperatives.

“This grant from the Nationwide Foundation affirms CDF’s mission and allows us to continue to promote the advantages of the cooperative model to economic developers across business sectors,” said Leslie Mead, executive director of CDF.

CDF will use the funds to support its general operating budget, improve its grant management and donor relations and reinforce its fundraising efforts through enhanced communications and social media outreach.  In 2017, CDF increased engagement with social media by 280 percent, yielding improved fundraising results — $102,805 in disaster recovery funds for cooperatives and $35,000 to support food co-ops through the Howard Bowers Fund.

The Nationwide Foundation grant will also support NCBA CLUSA’s  2018 Cooperative Impact Conference, to be held in Arlington VA, Oct. 3-5 and the Cooperative Leaders and Scholars Institute, a networking and learning opportunity for emerging cooperative leaders held in conjunction with the Impact Conference.
