CDF is a charitable foundation that raises funds to provide community developers with the hardest money to get- the first dollar in. Over the last 65 years, we have found that this makes the most efficient, effective use of the funds we raise. Our funds turn problems into coop solutions. Over the last 20 years alone, we have granted or loaned out over $10 million; over the last 65 years, we have helped millions of people open doors to improve their communities through innovative cooperative enterprise.

Cooperatives have a rich history of empowering people, providing needed services in isolated communities, allowing tenants to become homeowners, helping small businesses enjoy the benefits of scale, and providing innovative and low-cost solutions to a host of economic and social challenges. Cooperatives allow the average community member, worker or resident to be an entrepreneur and owner.

Today, CDF is working on the next generation of opportunities where cooperatives can serve as solutions to a myriad of economic problems.
