Supporting the Professional Development of Cooperative Communicators

Shirley Sullivan
The Shirley K. Sullivan Education Fund was established in 1998 by CDF and the Cooperative Communicators Association to promote the professional development of cooperative communicators. It gives grants to support CCA educational events and to CCA members to attend development workshops and seminars and other professional development activities such as the National Cooperative Business Association’s Cooperative Conference (NCBA) and the Graduate Institute of Cooperative Leadership (GICL) program.
The Fund is named in honor of longtime CCA member Shirley Sullivan, who was a senior editor at Southern States Cooperative. It is governed by a board of advisors from the community of cooperative communicators. The current board consists of K. D. Bryant Graham (Jackson EMC), Amber Dumont (MD & VA Milk Producers Cooperative), Jim Erickson (retired, Southern States Cooperative), Jerry Kirk (retired, TN Farmers Cooperative), and Don Tindall (retired, Southern States Cooperative). The CDF Executive Director is an ex officio advisor.
The Sullivan Fund has given 10 grants totaling $6,299 to six individuals for workshops, two for workshop support (CCM Midwest and North Central), one for a regional meeting (Midwest), and one for travel.
