As always, there will be an array of local runners and walkers at the Co-op 5K, but it also will feature teams from co-op organizations that compete for prizes and the prestige of being the first over the finish line.

The Co-op 5K is well known for its cooperative spirit, but it’s even better known for terrific prizes! Not only do the winners appreciate the prizes, but prize donors have a wonderful opportunity for visibility, both at the race and through all of the Race publicity.

What kind of prizes? Here are some examples from recent Races:

• Tickets to professional sports games – i.e., Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, Washington Nationals, Washington Wizards, Baltimore Oreoles, etc.
• Merchandise from professional sports teams – clothing and signed footballs, baseballs, hockey pucks, etc.
• Restaurant Gift Certificates — gift certificates (ranging from $25 to $100) from restaurants throughout the DC metro area
• Hotel packages – weekend get-away packages from area hotels and resorts
• Theater tickets – from movie passes to tickets to local theater companies like Arena Stage, Roundhouse Theater, etc.
• Spa and hair salon gift certificates
• Golf, ski and bowling packages
• Merchandise from Washington area cooperative organizations

How to be a prize donor?
• Donate a prize (i.e., a gift certificate from a favorite restaurant)
• If you’re a co-op team, ask your vendors to support your team with contributions of prizes (ask your marketing or meetings/training departments for assistance)
• Make a modest cash donation (tax deductible) to CDF that can be used for purchasing gift certificates and other items for prizes.
