Jim Jones Fund

James R. Jones

The Fund’s purpose is to promote leadership in housing, worker, and all types of student cooperatives throughout North America by providing grants to individuals. The Jim Jones Fund was established in 2009 by the North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO) to honor James R. Jones, a long-time NASCO member, educator, mentor, and cooperative developer, for his commitment to NASCO and cooperative development.  The Fund’s purpose is to promote leadership in housing, worker, and all types of student cooperatives throughout North America by providing grants to individuals seeking to attend or organize workshops, seminars, conferences, courses, institutes, and other cooperative leadership development opportunities taking place in North America.  Meetings outside North America of or related to the International Cooperative Alliance may also be supported.

The Fund is an endowment fund and will award a minimum of $1,600 annually from earnings on its assets once its assets have reached $40,000.  It will be governed by the CDF board of directors assisted by a board of five advisors, three of whom shall be named by NASCO and two of whom will be named by CDF.

James R. Jones was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in 2009.
