Applying to CDF
CDF makes grants and loans to further economic development through the cooperative business model. It is a family of funds with different funds supporting different cooperative sectors. Before applying, please be sure you fit within the cooperative parameter and you are applying to the right fund. If you have any questions, contact equinn@cdf.coop or 202 442-2331.
The application for the CDF, Cooperative Innovation, Howard Bowers, and Jim Jones Funds consists of eight pages: one page of Grant Guidelines and General Information, an overview/signature page that requests basic information about and contact information of the applicant, four pages of questions about the organization in more detail and about the project or program for which the applicant is applying for funding, a budget worksheet, and a page of attachments requested. In the four pages of questions, please give concise answers. The one-page budget worksheet asks for a breakdown of how the grant will be spent. The completed application and attachments should be sent to equinn@cdf.coop. To apply to the Kagawa, Revolving Loan, Sullivan, or MSC Fund, contact equinn@cdf.coop.
All applications are reviewed by the appropriate fund’s board of advisors and their recommendations are sent to the CDF board. If a fund does not have a board of advisors, all applications to it go straight to the CDF board. In 2013, the Bowers Fund advisors will meet on February 21, May 23, August 15, and November 7. The CDF board meets in February, May, August, and November. Applications for each fund should be received at least a week in advance of the advisors meeting. Please remember that CDF works only in the cooperative sector!

Reporting to CDF
Everyone receiving a grant from any of CDF’s funds is required to report to CDF on the use of their grant and the results achieved.
